What you need
To catch up with Blackbeard this week, you don't need a fast ship, a full supply of gunpowder or a good sword. But you might find the following tools handy, and they are only a click away:
A recent Web browser: Netscape or Internet Explorer
QuickTime and QuickTime VR: You'll need this to see interactive videos, including panoramas of Blackbeard attacking and the docks at Ocracoke.
There are also action movies of the Queen Anne's Revenge firing and a pirate gun firing. You can also use QuickTime to see our videos of Blackbeard (Ben Cherry) describing his life, divers showing their work, Blackbeard charting his next adventure, and Blackbeard describing the fateful battle of Ocracoke.
RealAudio 3.0 or better for Audio or RealPlayer 4.0 for Video and Audio: If you have a sound card on your computer, you can hear interviews and see videos and portrayals from participants in the Blackbeard saga. There are audio clips on each day of the voyage. To see videos, check out Blackbeard (Ben Cherry) describing his life, divers showing their work, Blackbeard charting his next adventure, and Blackbeard describing the fateful battle of Ocracoke. After Blackbeard's voyage, venture back to News & Record online for more multimedia projects.
Shockwave: You will want to choose Shockwave Freehand to get a closer look at the Queen Anne's Revenge. (HELP)
